Mardi Gras Mambo!
"Down in New Orleans, where the blues was born, it takes a cool cat to blow a horn..."
It's Mardi Gras time, y'all! Here at the St. Charles Guest House, we've been working like busy bees to get ready for the festivities! Here are some of the carnival events we're most excited about this year!
Krewe du Vieux (Saturday, January 23): Krewe du Vieux is noted for wild satire, adult themes, and political comedy, as well as for showcasing some of the best brass and jazz bands in New Orleans.
The Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus (Saturday, January 30): The Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus is a Sci-Fi themed Mardi Gras themed parade, as well as a self-described satirical space cult! The krewe has 900 members. This year, Chewbacchus fans rejoice - Chewbacca himself, Peter Mayhew, and Andy Richter from the Conan Obrien Show will be joining the festivities. The parade rolls through the Bywater/French Quarter.
Parades start rolling down St. Charles Avenue the weekend of January 29-31. That first weekend is a great time to come check out Mardi Gras because the crowds haven't yet descended upon the city. Full schedule can be found here.
Bacchus (Sunday, February 7th). We are so excited this year for Bacchus because Captain America Star, and New Orleans Native, Anthony Mackie is going to reign as king.
We still have rooms for all three upcoming weekends of Carnival! Our location one block from the St. Charles Avenue parade route makes us the perfect place to watch parades! Call or email us for price quotes.
